I’m really looking forward to this summer because we’re finally going on vacation! For the last few years we’ve been talking about going camping but we’ve never got around to it with one thing and another, however this year we’ve decided to take the plunge. We’ve bought a tent and we’ve planned a road trip to some of the best national parks. I’m super excited about all the things we’re going to do and see, and the kids just can’t wait too! They’re hoping to do lots of outdoor activities since we don’t often get to do that sort of thing when we’re at home. We don’t have a lot of countryside around where we live, and so we don’t get a lot of opportunities to do things like hiking, mountain biking and fishing. We’re going to do all of those things while we’re traveling this summer and we’re going to try something brand new too. We’re going to have a go at kayaking!
I firmly believe that sharing family time is really important for families with children. There’s no better way to make special memories that you can share for years ahead. I still have very happy memories of all my family outings with my parents even though they were years and years ago, and I want my children to have the same kind of experiences that I enjoyed. Since we don’t get many opportunities to enjoy family outings when we’re at home, I’m really hoping that this vacation is going to create some amazing memories that we’ll remember forever since family vacations are a really important part of our lives.
So, I’m looking for an inflatable kayak that we can take with us so that we can enjoy some amazing times on the lake. Where we’re pitching the tent is really close to a big lake and we’re going to have plenty of opportunities to get out on the water and enjoy ourselves. Although I did consider getting a regular kayak, I’ve decided that an inflatable one is the best idea. That way, we won’t have any difficulty in fitting it into the car, since we already have a lot of luggage to take with us. Even though our car has a big trunk, the tent takes up most of it!
I’ve been reading reviews of the best inflatable kayaks on sites like https://bestkayaks.reviews/touring and I’ve finally narrowed down my shortlist after I decided to view more details about the best models on the market today.
These are the two inflatable kayaks that were most highly rated on bestkayaks.reviews.
Advanced Elements AE1012-R
Although this model isn’t exactly inflatable, it does fold down so that I can easily transport it in the car, and since it is a hybrid of an inflatable and folding frame model, it combines portability with excellent performance. It has inbuilt ribs made from aluminum in the stern and bow and this means that it is space saving without the need to sacrifice on speed and tracking. It is very simple to set up, only taking about 10 minutes and since its hull is made from 3 layers of a very durable material it is long lasting. Weighing just 36 lbs, it can carry up to 300lbs of body weight and there are three different seat locations so it can be used as either a tandem or solo kayak.
This model is highly rated for stability and its bottom is said to be very durable and robust without puncturing or ripping easily. On the downside, this model has to be dried thoroughly before it is packed away which is a bit of an inconvenience.
Aire Lynx II
Although this kayak is quite expensive it is self-bailing and is suitable for up to 2 people. It is perfect for longer trips and is easy and fast to maneuver. Stable and large, this kayak has PVC coated tubes and a very rugged hull as well as comfortable seats which have strong backrests to offer better support. There is even space to store cargo and its 10-year warranty offers complete peace of mind. This is a very long lasting model and yet is very portable since it just weighs 32lbs. Easy to set up, it is responsive and skims easily over the water. On the downside, however, this is a major investment due to its high price tag.
Since we’ve never tried kayaking before, I think the Advanced Elements model will suit our needs well.
